Aashi Gandhi

Yoga teacher, traveller & host

For me, the journey with yoga began five years ago, although I didn’t call it yoga then.

It began when I started travelling solo for the first time. I stepped out of my home and into the unknown, choosing to do what I wanted to do despite the fears that came with it. Through travelling, I learned things that no school or college could have taught me. And the mountains taught me too. They became a mirror, showing me who I am.

My journey with yoga

Over the years, I have done multiple Himalayan treks and completed my Basic Mountaineering Course. These experiences showed me what my body is capable of and taught me to trust it in ways I had never imagined.

Somewhere along that journey, I was introduced to yoga by Dr. Neha. I began practising with her and learned so much about my own body. I still continue to practise with her today. Over time, I began to understand that there was much more to yoga than what happened on the mat.

I later completed my 900-hour Advanced Teacher Training Course at The Yoga Institute, where I was introduced to the Yoga Sutras. That study has stayed with me and continues to shape the way I understand yoga — not just as a practice for the body, but as a way of understanding the mind and myself.

“Every practice, every student, and every shared experience teaches me something new.”

Just after completing my teacher training, I lived in Konkan for a month, where I had the opportunity to teach yoga to the local women in the village. It was a beautiful experience that taught me a lot about sharing yoga beyond the space of a classroom, and about learning through the people I met.

I have also had the opportunity to volunteer with different spaces, which has allowed me to learn through different people, environments, and ways of sharing yoga.

Alongside yoga, I am currently pursuing a B.A. in Psychology and have developed a strong inclination towards understanding the mind, human behaviour, and the ways in which we understand ourselves. For me, this continues to be another part of the same journey of learning about the self.

Today, I take both online and offline classes. And through teaching, I continue to learn. Every practice, every student, and every shared experience teaches me something new — not only about yoga, but also about myself.

Through Soul Flow, I hope to create a space where people feel safe enough to be who they are, while continuing my own journey of learning to trust the flow of life and come closer to who I am.
